Yes, THEY ARE YOUR CLIENT, BUT THEY’RE ALSO A MOTHER FUCKING HUMAN BEING WITH REAL EMOTIONS, FEELINGS, DREAMS, FEARS, ASPIRATIONS, INHIBITIONS AND LIVES OUTSIDE OF THE TINY AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT WORKING TOGETHER.
So Here Is the Email I Sent To Someone <-For The Record, I FUCKING Hate Revealing My Emotions – But Sometimes You Have TO Make An Emotional connection if you want someone to Listen. Also For The Record, A Picture Of You Crying in the bathtub is FUCKING BRILLIANT TO GETTING SOMEONE TO DO WHAT YOU WANT. Yo – FUCKING RULES OF THE GAME, HOW IT FUCKING WORKS IN REALITY. :
I made a mistake at work in 2010. I was supposed to submit a project or email but didn’t. I got an email from the architect, ___________ of ____________ – She was upset that the submittal didn’t come in. I told her I never got the email with the request. She replied with something like the date and time of the email. I searched through the deleted folder and Yes, Did find that email. Still I didn’t remember seeing it. I asked around our office what to do – As She was clearly upset. Sue, our office manager, told me to write her a letter – but also to give her some action to show that it was not just empty words. I found an envelope of company stationary, and wrote her a personal apology and told her that as a show of my sincerity want to treat her to lunch. I then got in my car and drove to the architecture firm and hand delivered it to the receptionist to give to her. I never asked her about, we never talked about it, but as I was getting ready to leave engineering, we were working n a project together. It was a job walk about 2 or so hours before my flight to Lima, Peru. I didn’t really have time. But, I went anyways, we did the job walk, and then when I was leaving she said something and touched me on the shoulder. That’s it. You know, that’s a sign that a person cares about you. I knew she got it, and although she never gave me a thank you, I can look back on that action and smile. I Wish You Well As you Start Your Journey, And When you run into ________-‘s, remeber that they have Feelings and sometimes just the small act of offering lunch and hand delivering an apology card can make all the difference. It May Be a Business You are Running, But It revolves around people – and while my dream is not to run a business – I See It as a means of propulsion towards What I really want.
